Story
August 21st 2014, after 27 weeks of pregnancy – twin grandchildren are born 13 weeks early and given a 50% chance of survival. They’re in trouble.
Never before have we lived on such a knife edge: Watching; Waiting; Willing for all to be okay. Phone, don’t ring. One…Two…Three months later… Phone, don’t ring.
Our family was plunged into the unknown world of life within a neonatal unit; Luke weighed 2lbs 4oz and Eva 2lbs 1oz after a natural birth. Today, despite some struggles, they are growing and developing well because of the dedication and professionalism of the neonatal staff backed up by ongoing research and development by the UHCW (University Hospital Coventry & Warwickshire).
They made it.
Our family are extremely fortunate yet so many others aren’t. Their sorrow is indescribable and as onlookers it is something we will never ever forget and be eternally grateful that it wasn’t us.
As Luke and Eva celebrate their 1st birthday we want to say more than ‘Thank You’ by raising funds so that more very premature babies increase their chances of survival.
