We work through volunteers to bring about lasting change

Story

After successfully completing my marathon golf challenge in June (72 holes on the trot), I have decided to attempt an equally arduous sporting challenge. Those who know me understand that my interest levels in exercise are minimal at best so my next challenge will certainly push me to the extreme.

Myself and my good friend and colleague, Jimmy 'Connors' Allen are attempting an endurance test which involves playing the best of 29 sets of tennis in one day (November 19th). There are no breaks other than changing ends and the marathon match begins at 6.30am and goes on until someone wins. This means that there are a possible 377 games of tennis that will take place in one agonising day.

Our ability levels are equally average. We have played a total of 3 sets in the past with Jimmy victorious in each of those by narrow margins. In terms of games, he is ahead 20-14 over the 10 years that we have known each other. Now it comes down to one day where we could play 10 times that amount and your support will enable me to turn this miscarriage of justice around, wipe a smile from a smug face and support a worthwhile cause at the same time. The best part is that the company I work for will double the amount raised. Coupled with gift aid, consider any contribution as an investment. A £10 contribution from you will equate to a £25 contribution to charity!

The charity I'm supporting is Voluntary Services Overseas (VSO). I have recently returned from Gambia where my inlaws are based for one year working for the charity - working with several schools to enable the teaching staff to be effective and self-sufficient. Having seen the fine work they're doing and witnessing the hardships they're enduring, it has certainly won me over.
