Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer amongst women in the UK and there are around 6,800 new cases every year. Of those diagnosed with ovarian cancer, almost 90% were not aware of the symptoms and it is often referred to as the ‘silent killer’ for this very reason. Becoming more aware of the symptoms & getting checked out by your GP is the key to early diagnosis and treatment.

I would like  to raise awareness and funds for Ovacome to help them continue to support women who have been affected by ovarian cancer, as well as their families and friends, and to help them spread the word on their BEAT campaign, the early diagnosis check that we should all know about and can all do. I have decided to take part in a number of events over the next year or so and will be doing them to raise funds & awareness for Ovacome. Sadly, my friend lost her fight on 30th September 2013 but I will continue to keep running & raising awareness in Teresa's memory. If by taking part in a few challenging events I can help just one other woman be aware of the symptoms and prevent them from going through what Teresa did, then it will be worth every step, blister & mile.
