Football Gambia is not just about football. Our goal is to educate children and develop communities in The Gambia. We provide educational materials to schools/nurseries and encourage self sufficiency through farming and business initiatives. Check out our website: www.footballgambia.org

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our just giving page.

Hi our names are Lewis atkinson, Kyle jackson and Damien moulden we are three lads from Darwen and blackburn who are trying to raise £3000 or more so that we can fly out with the organisation football for Gambia, to do some voluntary work out there with the local villages and communities that have nothing.

We have all been inspired to do this because we all used to play for Darwen spartans J.F.C and when we finished we sent our under 18's full kit and other kits out there so that it didnt go to waste in a box in one of our loft's. once the kit was took out we recieved some images from one of the football For Gambia people and those images changed all our perspectives on how lucky we really are. We also recieved a hand carved plaque of our club logo which has pride of place on the wall.

This is why we want to make a difference and fly out to a third world country that has absoloutely nothing compared to what we have. We want to make a change not only for the people in The Gambia but make a massive change to ourselves and help others less fortunate than us, we get everything or expect everything on a plate and to understand and appreciate hardship and the simple things in life can only make us better individuals and more capable of serving our own community.

Whilst we are going to be out there we will be doing various activites for the local communities, some of which will be things like doing some football coaching with the children over there and building a barbers shop aswell.

We will also be building a water well which in a village in Gambia will be better than getting a car are a house, and this to them will make such a huge impact in there lives. i would just hope that you have taken a minute are two to read this and see what a difference we are trying to do we are not trying to change the crisis in africa we will never be able to do that but if we can try to do our bit then maybe it will benefit lives in some way.

Our own story stems from the club we belonged to The Spartans, individuals who never gave up, we wont give up trying to realise this dream to be able to assist others and help them have better lives now and in the future, can we make a difference, the answer is yes but only if we want to and we do.

If you would like to donate any type of amount from a pound to a penny every little bit helps and we would be very greatfull becasue if we cant get out there then we will feel like it is such a huge chance missed to change the lives of those who even struggle to have fresh clean water.

Thank you
