• 42% of young LGBT people have sought medical help for anxiety or depression

• 52% of young LGBT people report self-harm either now or in the past

• 44% of young LGBT people have considered suicide

These figures are harrowing and hit a personal nerve for me.

Being in the closet was killing me, having people saying homophobic narrow minded crap on a day to day basis was chipping away at me, having to keep this secret away from everyone was making me go absolutely crazy !!!!

Coming out and dealing with being 'different' in today's society is not a picnic - potentially losing your friends, family and being driven to the edge of your own sanity is sickening. With all this whirling around in your head suicide looks like the only option (not an easy way out!!!)

Charities such as 'Stonewall' are making monumental strides in helping young people know that they are not wrong and that there is always something worth loving for even when life looks its darkest.
