Story

Hello Everyone...

For those that don't really know me, I'm Liam Pennington; a 26 year old male from Manchester, who is running the Greater Manchester Marathon on the 10th of April on behalf of Breast Cancer Care and The British Heart Foundation.

For those that do, the fact that I'm attempting to run 26.2 miles is probably more unbelievable.

Why am i running? I've asked myself that every day for the last 3 months but in reality, there are 2 reasons...

It will be 5 years in May since my Stepdad, Kenny Guard passed away suddenly due to a heart condition. Kenny was an avid runner, often trying to get me to run with him in my teenage years before he gave up and i stupidly ballooned to 18 stone...

Following his passing, my friend Ben and I suggested that in his honour that we would one day run a marathon. *Ben is not running the marathon, shame on him!

Fast forward to October 2015 and that's the moment that Paul Lynch was really able to take advantage of me and have me sign up to the Manchester Marathon.

The most amazing woman in the world, my mum, was diagnosed with Breast Cancer. Thankfully, due to regular screenings they were able to catch it early and my mum is now in remission. Ladies, my mum said "Please make sure you go for your Mammogram's"

I'm so proud of my Mum's strength throughout and it was that which inspired me to take on this challenge. 26.2 Miles is so so far and any amount that you can donate, will hold me accountable and make sure that i complete this challenge!

I wanted to run for both Charities which is why i had to set the page up as a team. It would be great if donations can be spread evenly across both, please.

Thank you so much in advance!

Liam Pennington
