Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
In 2010 I will be travelling to Uganda to work in the rural village of Kabbubu with the Quicken Trust. I have been asked to help with a reminiscence project among the elderly to promote the self esteem of a generation of African’s who are often overlooked. It is not uncommon for elderly Africans to be looking after children at a point in their lives when they themselves should be looked after; unable to work through old age or ill health they struggle to provide for their grandchildren or great-grandchildren, orphaned through AIDs.
I will be working in the UK between now and March and will pay all my own expenses of travel, accommodation, insurance & vaccinations (approx £2,200). However, every volunteer with Quicken Trust is asked to raise awareness of the work of the Charity by seeking sponsorship gifts for the charity of a minimum of £400 over and above the costs of the trip.
Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
