FUNDRAISING UPDATE!

For such a good cause and for Mike showing his commitment by chewing a super-hot chilli for 30seconds, Robert Wiseman Dairies were happy to donate £200 to each of the 5 trekkers - Good Luck!

A huge thank you to my wonderful grandparents for donating £100!

A big thank you to Richard for his very generous donation of £250!

=========================================================================

When the opportunity presented itself to climb I jumped at the chance.  After all, as I’ve been telling everybody, “it’s a once in a lifetime opportunity”.  Not only that but it is for a fantastic charity called KidsCan.  The “KidsCan” Children’s Cancer Research Centre is working hard to promote and support research into the causes, prevention, treatment and cure of cancers in children. No other charity researches into specifically children’s cancers which makes their work both unique and vital.

There are a moments of reflection, when I wonder what I have signed up to…especially when some of you have reacted to my exciting news by laughing! Clearly I am slightly worried by the fact that on the 7 August I will start to climb the largest free standing mountain in the world – 19,334 ft high and I currently struggle to climb a normal hill.  I’m thinking the wine and cigarettes may have to go and some serious training is needed but, I also remind myself that if Chris Moyles can do this then so can I.

A bit about the trek…I will start in the rainforests of Lemosho Glades, heading upwards towards Shira Plateau. From here I will catch a glimpse of my goal - Kibo, Kilimanjaro’s main ice-capped peak before continuing via the beautiful Southern Flank, Barranco Wall and … I am going to try not to think about mosquitoes, spiders or falling down the mountain.

So, that just leaves me to say ultimately it is about raising as much money for KidsCan as possible in order that they can continue the fantastic work they do.  The challenge I face is  nothing compared to the families whose children suffer from cancer so please help support them, (and me) by sponsoring me today.

If you've never heard of KidsCan, please watch this short film

Donating through Justgiving is quick, easy and totally secure. It’s also the most efficient way to sponsor me: KidsCan gets your money faster and, if you’re a taxpayer, Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.

So please sponsor me today!
