Digital Detox · 1 December 2015
At Liberty Marketing, digital is at the heart of everything we do. We spend our days glued to computer screens and our nights with our smartphones close at hand so that we can stay on top of the ever-evolving world of online marketing.
In actual fact, it's fair to say that the internet has become so intertwined with our day-to-day existence that we'd feel pretty hard done by without our daily dose of digital.
We take our access to the internet for granted, and using gadgets every day is considered the norm, so what better way could there be of raising money for charity this Christmas than asking a few of us to break our digital habit?
A sponsored silence? Too easy! Coming to work in our PJs? Don't make us laugh. We wanted to do something hard, something that would absolutely be worth your pennies.
The Liberty Digital Detox
Our decision to give up something that, if you think about it, is a bit of a privilege, got us thinking about the number of people living right here on our doorstep who are going without things that are way more important than a quick scroll through their social feeds.
Last year in Wales, Shelter Cymru helped 282 people who were street homeless and a further 1883 households that were within 28 days of being homeless.
Shelter Cymru provides independent specialist advice, advocacy and legal representation for anyone in Wales with housing problems. In 2014, their advisers provided face-to-face help for nearly 16,000 people from all over Wales, helping to prevent homelessness in 86 per cent of cases where it was threatened.
A smartphone is a luxury. A decent, secure home is not.
Please donate. We really would like our 12 days of misery to be worth something.
Lots of love,
The Liberty Digital Detoxers
