Story
SHARE Community, a community-based provider of training and education for disabled people, has been rendered inaccessible by the irreparable breakdown of its passenger lift. Our state-of-the-art Ian Karten Centre for Information Technology is now out of bounds, with as many computers as possible having been relocated to a ground floor room, alongside other teaching facilities from the first floor. This poses considerable operational challenges to staff and trainees, in the long term. The sixty year old goods lift is beyond repair, as spare parts are no longer manufactured. A replacement will cost £129,750! We have already been generously supported by the Wolfson Foundation, Wandsworth LEA, and many of our long term Friends and supporters, but we still have much work to do.
SHARE, a much valued community resource that has provided a holistic, caring educational resource for disabled people from across London since 1972 may be forced to close unless we can restore use of our First Floor facilities. Our holistic training is not duplicated elsewhere in this part of London and we do not want our client group to lose it.
Can you help by donating towards our lift appeal?
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to help: Share Community will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. If you require any further information about SHARE, the appeal, or donating online then please contact Gavin Fearnley at fundraising@share community.org.uk
Many thanks for your support!
