Story

"My name is Lily and I am six years old. I am raising money because I don't want anyone to have what I have." - Lily Letchford

Lily has Vesicoureteral Reflux (VUR)which basically means that the ureter(tube which urine uses to leave the kidney in order to reach the bladder for expelling) on her left side is faulty and so the urine passes into the bladder and then "backs-up" taking any bacteria present to her kidney. As a result Lily endures UTI after UTI which are painful and at times frightening. Her left kidney is significantly scarred (irreparably) and a MAG3 scan 18 months ago showed her left kidney is doing approx 16% of the work and her right does the rest. Her wonderful consultant is monitoring the right via ultrasounds to check it is coping. Her VUR is Grade IV. Please see the link below.

Lily is raising money to aid the research into VUR and Quethiock School is supporting her superbly and kindly on a daily basis. Lily's fellow pupils are all helping by taking part in a Sponsored Walk to School on World Kidney Day -March 8th 2012.

Thank you all Quethiock-ians and all others who are supporting us.
