Monday 19th December                                                                                      Knowing is one thing, but realising is another!

Today, I've covered 1.5 miles+ while in central London, and was stopped by fundraisers. When I asked them if they had ever heard of sickle cell...let me just saythat, I heard birds chirping and even saw pigs flying.

This 11.3 mile walk is really about raising the awareness of sickle cell disorders by informing general members of the public with the bonus being, that the funds raised will support the work that the sickle cell society is doing.

Monday 19th December                                                                                        Walking with passion

Having witnessed the treatment of a friend in intensive care challenged my own ignorance. I assumed that because it is a disease, surely health professionals would know how to regard a patient experiencing a crises.

I’ve decided to walk my passion, because I believe that raising the awareness of sickle cell will inform people and fund the training of professionals; that will see sickle cell patients receive the best quality care across the country.

Once again I would really like to thank you all, ever so much for walking with me to raise the awareness of sickle cell disorders and to support the ongoing work of the sickle cell society.

I look forward to meeting some of you on the route!

Have a Joyful Christmas and a Wonderfilled New year!

Best wishes

Linda J
