Story
Earlier this year my Dad was diagnosed with bowel cancer. Treatment included radiotherapy, chemotherapy and surgery all of which went well but unfortunately he developed post op complications which resulted in him spending 6 weeks in an Intensive Care Unit on life support. We thought we'd lost him but although he is still in hospital he is now making slow but steady progress towards recovery. Dad has always been a very keen cyclist. For his 70th birthday he cycled Lands End to John O'Groats. For his 80th birthday last year he had a session on the Olympic velodrome track so it seemed appropriate to use the cycling challenge to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK. Bowel cancer is the 4th most common cancer in the UK and the second most common cause of cancer deaths after lung cancer. It can affect anyone at anytime but is preventable and, if caught early enough, is both treatable and curable. Your donations will go to the Bowel Cancer UK charity to fund research into preventing and treating the cancer - I am totally self funding the challenge so no donations will be used to fund the trip.
