Story

Good morning all!

A sincere thank you to all of you for sponsoring me so generously for the 10k.  We raised a fantastic amount for IAPWA.

Miraculously, i did drag my wobbly body round the entire course and completed it in 69 minutes, which i think isn't tooooo bad considering i haven't actually ever run that far! And of course allowances have to be made for the remains of Friday night's wine sloshing around in there!! Alan and i did feel however that attending a drag queen show before a 10k was important relaxation, and our moves on the dance floor were highly athletic....

I had the joy of viewing my official race photos online today too which was even more painful than the run itself! I didn't entirely pull off the athletic poses i had hoped, however. In fact i seem to have gained a couple of stone!  am also greatly relieved to have been faster than Michelle McManus - can you imagine the horror had i been slower?!!

Regardless, it was all in the name of a charity close to my heart who do amazing work for animals in need, so thanks again for making this a success

Love you all

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To all my lovely friends, family and colleagues

I will be dragging my wobbly somewhat untrained body all round Glasgow as part of the Great Scottish run 10K on Sun 5th Sept. Despite many many very sweaty lunchtimes on the treadmill at work i am not quite the honed athlete as yet, but i'll give it a damn good go!  It's all in the name of a very good cause and i would very much appreciate it if you would consider sponsoring me for this event. Additionally perhaps some of you would volunteer to be on wheelchair duty for me during the run!

All funds raised go to IAPWA who i have been working with for a few months now. They do amazing work for animals in need. Please check out their website to see in more detail the work they do. http://www.iapwa.org/

The IAPWA founders are back in Borneo in October to meet with a local building team to discuss the plans for the veterinary clinic which will be built on land that has been donated to the project.  Once the process for planning permission has been completed, the team hope to commence building work next year.

Once the clinic is operational, this will provide veterinary treatment to thousands of dogs and cats each year that would otherwise have no access to help. Many animals are left to die from cruelty, neglect and inhumane practices and IAPWA and their local partner are the only group worldwide who are focused on helping the companion animals in this part of the world.  Prior to the clinic being built, the charity are funding for hundreds of animals to receive urgent treatment, with nearly 200 animals receiving some form of treatment in the last few weeks alone.

The team are also meeting with a local group to establish a temporary shelter for those that are too traumatised to cope on the streets and to protect those in high risk areas. They are also discussing the management of the local dog pound, which has recently been passed to the local group they work with and is history in the making, to ensure that the dogs which are caught each day by the dog catching team are now dealt with in a humane manner and receive the care and attention they need.

Thanks muchly my dears. The sweaty, purply/red-faced pictures will follow!
