Turning 40 is a life experience in itself, but to make it slightly more enriched I have volunteered to work in the South African orphanage Village of Hope; a 9 bed unit for children infected or affected by HIV / Aids or TB.

Village of Hope is one of seven projects organized by Thembalitsha Foundation.  Their aim is to restore hope and develop people to the point of self reliance.  Thembalitsha is the Xhosa word for ‘New Hope’.

Not only will I spend time in Village of Hope but will also visit Thembalitsha’s 6 other projects, documenting what I see in photographs with the aim of using my photographs for marketing / creating awareness – in other words bringing ‘new hope’ to their future.

My trip will be personally funded, so all donations will go directly to Thembalitsha Foundation.

All monies will be gratefully received.
