Story

Hi, my name is Lisa Carnie. Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now.

On Tuesday 12th January the tremors of Port au Prince’s devastating earthquake rippled through the whole country.

Estimations as to the number killed are over 200,000 and around 1 and a half million people are already reported to be homeless. Many thousands of these refugees are now heading north to Cap-Haitien.

On the 8th of April I will be heading out to Cap-Haitien, to volunteer as a Physiotherapist.

I will be volunteering in the state run Hospital Justinian and St Milot to treat overflow patients, mostly displaced from Port au Prince. Our hospital will receive these casualties and also provide food and water to others who have come to Cap-Haitien with nothing.

My role will be to provide Physiotherapy and rehabilitation to both adults and children with head injuries, fractures, spinal cord injuries, amputations and other severe traumas. I will also be part of a team who will be training local staff so that they may provide more long term, sustainable rehabilitation.

As I will be volunteering my time and expertise, 100% of your donation will be used to purchase and deliver the resources and equipment I will require to provide this much needed assistance.

We are now at a critical stage in the relief effort, and desperately need your support to ensure no more lives are lost.

Thank you very much for your support.
Lisa xx
