<p>We are raising money for the Frenchay Neuro Unit where my 13 year old daughter, Hannah was a patient in June this year. She suffered a serious brain <span style="line-height: 115%; font-family: &amp;amp;amp; font-size: 11pt; mso-ascii-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-fareast-font-family: Calibri; mso-fareast-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-hansi-theme-font: minor-latin; mso-bidi-font-family: 'Times New Roman'; mso-bidi-theme-font: minor-bidi; mso-ansi-language: EN-GB; mso-fareast-language: EN-US; mso-bidi-language: AR-SA;">haemorrhage</span> and was in a critical condition. Despite our early worries that she may never recover fully, she returned to school in just a few months,is sitting her GCSEs later this year and is fully involved in an active social lfe. She is a very keen athlete and holds the gold medal for 75m hurdles for the south west counties. Although she has returned to her club, she is unable to compete at the moment and still has quite a way to go before she can hope to be back to her old self. Hannah is preparing to run 3k on Boxing Day and this will be quite a challenge for her. Last time she ran this event she finished in the top 10 for her age group-this year she will need to train hard to complete the course but her determination will prevail and I know she will do it. Her brother will run with her but due to an ankle injury I am unable to run so will swim the same distance-120 lengths. The kids have started off by sponsoring me so now I'm committed!</p>
<p>We are so grateful that she is still with us and for the skill and compassion of her surgeon in those early frightening days. She received amazing care whilst in Frenchay from all staff and we just want to be able to give something back in some small way.</p>
