Story

The Parents Consortium do a fantastic job of supporting disabled children and their families. They provide social clubs for kids that might not be able to cope with the demands of mainstream ones and invaluable support for parents of disabled children in all aspects of life, such as attending school meetings with parents and offering advice and support to families when they feel they have nowhere else to turn. The list is endless, but ultimately they change hundreds of families lives for the better.

Unfortunately the government's plans to save money has effected this wonderful charity who have now had major funding cuts and can no longer provide some of the services that some families desperately need and rely heavily upon. But! If enough of us can raise money , perhaps we can restore some of these services and give disabled children the chance for a happy normal life.

Before November 2011 the furthest I had ever swam in my life in one go was 1 length. I have now comfortably swim 45 lengths and aim to swim a mile to raise money for a charity close to my heart. As most of you know my son is autistic and has ADHD and although I have been very lucky with the services he has received the story is a rare one. Most families have to fight hard for the chance for their children to have an education, or make huge decisions on thier behalf with no information on how this will affect them. Most of the children that attend the social clubs and days out, would not be able to access mianstream clubs because of their disability. Without the Parents Consortium, I really do not know what many of these families would do.

So please dig deep and donate now.
