As you maybe aware, this time last year, I was busy preparing for a trek to Iceland to take place in June 2010.  Unfortunately, due to the volcanic ash crisis, the trek had to be relocated to Romania.  Despite an amazing and very successful trek across the Transylvanian Alps, I was disappointed to have missed out on the Iceland experience.  However, I am delighted that I have once again been given this amazing opportunity and in July 2011 I am undertaking a trek across Iceland for 5 days to raise much needed money for Aims2Cure, a Charity who fund research into finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis.  The 60km trek will be across Iceland’s challenging Southern Highlands, one of the country’s most actively volcanic areas.  The days will be long, covering difficult terrain, steep climbs and descents, as well as walking across snowfields.  We will be sleeping under canvas each night after having to put up our own tents!  To tell you a little bit more about Aims2Cure – they are a registered charity, established in 1999 who finance research into finding a cure for Multiple Sclerosis at The Institute of Neurology and The Institute of Cell and Molecular Science, both in London.In 2007 Aims2Cure set up The Michele Elster Foundation to help fund MS sufferers directly with their everyday lives.  The late Michele Elster was an MS sufferer who tragically lost her life to the disease in 2006.   To date, Aims2Cure have raised over £750,000 to try and eradicate one of the most common neurological diseases amongst young adults, currently affecting around 85,000 people in the UK.  I am funding the entire cost of the trip myself so that any donations I receive will go entirely to Aims2Cure.   I would be very grateful and appreciative for any support you may be able to give to finding a cure into the unbearable disease that is Multiple Sclerosis.
