Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
My Step-Daughter, Beth has Rett Syndrome, she is reliant on others for all her needs, 24hrs a day. Beth has been part of my life since her diagnosis & over the years I've watched her develop the awful symptoms, such as seizures, loss of mobility & scoliosis which caused her spine to bend so much that she couldn't sit up straight. She's now had an operation to have metal rods attached to her spine, after which she was really ill for a few months due to contracting 2 infections.
Beth has had to endure such a lot during her 12 years, more than most people do in their lifetime. Despite all this she is a happy girl who never fails to keep smiling through everything she's faced with & makes me realise what's important in life. I'm honoured to be part of her life, proud of all she achieves & love her as she is. However, there is hope that she could have a better quality of life.
Rett Syndrome was reversed in the lab in 2007 & much more recently it was announced that bone marrow transplants had arrested symptoms of Rett, in the lab. Money raised by RSRT UK is used to fund research projects so the more money raised the closer we are to a cure. Please help to fund that research, Beth & her Rett friends will be very grateful.
