At Alzheimer’s Society we’re working towards a world where dementia no longer devastates lives. We do this by giving help to those living with dementia today, and providing hope for the future by campaigning to make dementia the priority it should be and funding groundbreaking research.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

In July myself, Amanda and Leyla have decided to climb the Yorkshire 3 Peaks - a tough challenge where we scale three mountains in Yorkshire, including Whernside, the highest in North Yorkshire, to raise funds for The Alzheimers Society.

My husbands family have experience of this terrible illness. His Nan suffered for many years before she eventually passed away the year before we become a couple. Unfortunately I never got to meet her but I have often been told what a gentle nature she had and how she loved her grandchildren dearly. Now my husbands Grandma has been diagnosed with the illness and whilst she remains in her home, she has regular care to help her each day.

Alzheimers is a terrible illness currently affecting over 800,000 people in the UK. Whilst it mostly affects the elderly, up to 10% of sufferers are under 65.
