Story
On Friday 2nd October, I, along with a group of colleagues, am sleeping out on the street in London for Byte Night, Action for Children. I do this because it is a charity close to my heart and I ask you to take just a moment of your time to read about it ..
Deprivation, child neglect and youth homelessness remain a massive problem around the UK. We often view the possibility of homelessness as distant and unlikely. But every year around 80,00 young people in the UK experience homelessness.
In a family under pressure, relationships can become fractured and breakdown. Arguments can escalate and those affected can feel they have no choice but to leave home. If that person is below the age of 21, then chances are they will have few places to turn.
If your life is a doorway, a backpack and the sodden, dirty clothes you left home in, it can be easy to make misguided choices about your future. The dreams and ambitions forged in childhood quickly fade and are replaced by the crushing expectation and harsh reality of adulthood.
On 2 October thousands of people across the UK will sleep out so vulnerable young people don’t have to. The money raised by Byte Night, the UK’s largest sleepout enables Action for Children to support services around the country. These services provide young people with the space, security and stability they need to get their lives back on track and are crucial to preventing youth homelessness.
By donating to Byte Night, you can help those in danger of being forgotten, and give them the opportunity to build a better life for themselves. You can support our sleep out team by donating here: https://www.justgiving.com/teams/thesalesforcegang
