Why am I climbing Kilimanjaro? Well If I'm really honest it all came about over dinner and a bit of a banter with my good friend Tania who said "You'd never be able to climb Kili!" to which I responded "Of course I could". I was caught by the biggest dangling carrot ever! Having mulled it over, I began to think - why not - so here we are, in a few weeks, setting off for a 10 day adventure!
We arrive in Kilimanjaro on the 24th September and after a quick sleep, we start our climb to reach Uhuru Peak, the top of Kilimanjaro - a mere 5896 m (Just over 3 miles high) . Over the course of the next 6 days we climb an average of 10 miles a day. This may not seem much but with the altitude ever increasing, the task will become harder and harder. Each day we will be covering different terrain, starting with dense rain forest, high moorland, rock, scree and finishing with the summit glacier at sunrise on the 30th September.
Thank you so much taking the time to donate. O2e is a charity that Martin has raised money for with his cycling over the past few years and we have been able to see how important any donation is to each of their charities.
With lots of love
