Story

I have decided to complete the Inca Trail in Peru for St Barnabas house (www.stbarnabas-hospice.org.uk) which is a fantastic local charity which provides specialist palliative care to patients with advanced progressive life limiting illnesses.

Patients are never charged for their care and it costs around £4m per year to provide the services needed. Only a third of this comes from the government, so the Trek team are aiming to raise at least £56,000 which will pay for a whole months care in not 1 but 4 patient rooms.

As a result, I am asking all my friends, family and work colleagues for as much support as possible along my journey to raise funds for this amazing charity.

The trek will take place from 18th-27th May 2012 and I will be conquering the Inca Trail which leads to Macchu Picchu. During the 43km, there are a number of very high mountain passes and high altitudes and we will be at 4,200m above sea level at our highest point, making this a very tough and challenging trek.

So the next 7 months of my life will be dedicated to fundraising, fitness, fat busting and hopefully some fun along the way. For anyone who knows me well this means giving up the cake and chocolates and getting into a serious training plan so any support you can give will be a huge motivation for me.

I know it is not until May which may seem a long time away but I need to get most of the funds raised by February! I will also be running a number of fundraising events in the next 7 months so will keep face book updated on these too.

Thank you so much in advance
