<p>I can hardly believe it, but I reach my half century on13th February.&nbsp; I would love to celebrate&nbsp;by&nbsp;doing something special to help Wimbledon Greyhound Welfare, which is based at Hersham in Surrey.</p> <p>In 2011, Brian and I began sharing our home with Bessie and Smurf,&nbsp;two of the lovely hounds at Hersham looking for a new home.&nbsp; They have brought&nbsp;many good things into our lives and I would like to do something to help&nbsp;their doggy pals.&nbsp; So many greyhounds are discarded every year when they don't quite make the grade on the racetrack.&nbsp; This is so sad when they have run their hearts out for their owners and when they make such wonderful, gentle pets.&nbsp; The hounds at Hersham have been lucky to find themselves there; the dedicated staff&nbsp;and volunteers&nbsp;do all they can to care for the dogs and to find new homes for as many as possible.&nbsp;</p> <p>It costs a lot to run the kennels and I will therefore be giving them &pound;100 in celebration of my birthday. If you feel able to give something to increase this gift, I would really appreciate it.&nbsp; Even better, take a trip there and&nbsp;take&nbsp;a hound out for a walk - you may well be tempted to adopt one!&nbsp;</p> <p>Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.
