My story, like so many others, is personal.  My Dad was officially diagnosed with Lewy Body Dementia in October 2017, although it took over a year to get to his diagnosis due to the difficulty in identifying it.  Since then I have wanted to do something to support the charity to fund further research into this devastating disease. 

Earlier this year, I became aware of Showtime Challenge 48 Hour Musical, a group of professional actors and talented amateurs who put on a West End show in 48 hours.  This year it's 'Singin in the Rain' and the selected charity is the Lewy Body Society (https://www.lewybody.org/).  So.....within minutes I set myself a challenge, and signed up to audition!  Now, I used to dance, act and sing....but that was 20 years ago so the thought of putting myself back in front of an audition panel to sing, act and dance was pretty daunting!  But, it was for my Dad, so I had to...even if it meant donning a leotard, leggings and heeled dance shoes only 8 months after having my daughter!!  It was a great few hours....and then a waiting game.

I heard, on my Dad's birthday, that I had been lucky enough to be selected to be a cast member for the show!  I am excited, emotional and petrified all in one!!  So...at 1900 on Friday 11 October I will be joining the rest of the cast in London to begin 48 hours of rehearsals before the curtain goes up at 1900 on Sunday 13 October at the Adelphi Theatre in London's West End!
