Story

WE DID IT! JUST! STILL PLENTY OF TIME TO DONATE TO 'CLIMB'

Thanks for visiting my fundraising page!

In 1992, my brother Patrick was born and diagnosed with a rare and untreatable disease called Menkes. A genetic disorder, Menkes affects the ability of the body to breakdown and use copper, which causes an abnormal accumulation of copper in the liver. Although normal or slightly slowed development can proceed for 2 to 3 months, there will be a severe developmental delay and a loss of early developmental skills, for example Patrick stopped being able to smile.

October 2010 will mark what would have been Patrick’s 18th birthday and to celebrate this I feel that it is important to give something back to a charity that helped my family through so much. Therefore, my dad and I will be walking the 87 miles along the Kennet and Avon canal between Reading and Bristol over the August Bank holiday weekend in order to raise money for CLIMB. CLIMB are the only organisation in the UK dedicated to providing information and support on all metabolic diseases to children and their families and through your help they can continue to do so.

Thanks
Lizzie
