Well we did it!  After a very wet and windy night the day dawned with a promise of a weather window in the Banbury area, and luck was on our side! Although very cold, and with an increasing headwind down to the turn,we managed to complete the race just before the rain came in. Thanks to all your wonderful donations and the paper pledges we have received on paper sponsor forms (and with the gift aid), it is looking like we will have raised over £1000, which was double our target and absolutely fantastic!! We have popped in to see Gwenneth on our way home and she is absolutely thrilled with what we have done. She also thanks everyone for their very kind comments. Hopefully I will try to download a couple of photographs taken on the race, and add them to this site.

Thank you all so much for supporting us and the charity.

Our great friend Gwenneth was recently diagnosed with ovarian cancer.  She has endured a major operation and has much more treatment ahead of her.

On 29th November 2009 we are taking part in the Ross Warland Memorial Challenge race, a 20 mile 12 portage canoeing relay race, in two K2 kayaks, on the canal near Banbury in aid of Ovarian Cancer Research. The weather forecast for the day looks very very cold, a little breezy and with a chance of sleet and snow just to add to the day!! But we are so pleased with how many people have kindly supported us with donations so thank you all very much.

If you are visiting this page for the first time and if you feel you are able to support us by donating a small sum to this worthwhile charity, we would be most appreciative!  We would like to raise as much as possible, so that research can continue and may be able to help the lives of many others in future.

Thank you so much for visiting our page.
