Story

I am running the London 2012 marathon to support my dad, a former (and future!) marathon runner who has been fighting alcoholism for some time now. Having run a number of races together in the past, we vowed to one day run the London Marathon together. Though he isn't yet back in "fighting shape," I am running the marathon this year to show my support for him and inspire him to stay strong in difficult times.

Please support this cause that is very near and dear to my heart. While it is sometimes difficult to share the struggle of someone so important in my life, my hope is that others will recognize that alcoholism is a disease that not only impacts an individual, but also has an incredible residual effect on the lives of that person's loved ones each and every day. There is no overnight fix for anyone involved - alcoholism is a lifelong battle that takes bravery and strength of both mind and body to overcome for the individual, and an incredible toughness and demonstration of love and loyalty for a family to be able to cope with while also providing support.

Thanks so much for your support!
