Story
My fondest childhood memories, and I’m sure all 6 of my siblings will agree, is of going to stay for the school holidays at my aunt (Khala) and uncle’s (khalu) house in Portsmouth. A stay at their house wouldn’t go without a trip to the seaside, fun fair rides to our hearts content, ice cream, regular trips to the park and mix & match drinks at their restaurant along with After Eights. And each time we were leaving back for Home they would slip some money in to each of our pockets. To say they loved us like their own children would be an understatement. In 2018 both my aunt and uncle returned to their lord. My aunt in March after an operation on her leg and my uncle more recently in November after battling cancer for several years. Both of them received good care in hospital, something sometime we take for granted. When this charity cycle challenge was announced I knew straight away that I wanted to do it for them. It was no coincidence that it would be a cycle to Portsmouth and it would be for a hospital for some of the most persecuted people in the world. And so Moizi and boromama this is for you. I pray Allah accepts all our efforts, credits you with endless sadaqah jariyah and grants you Jannahtul Firdous. Ameen.
The Palestinians living in Gaza are considered to be some of the most oppressed people on the face of the earth. Their movement is restricted, they have little access to essential resources, food supply is limited, clean water is hard to access for the majority of the population and healthcare which is in constant demand is affected by a lack of medication, equipment and power cuts. Your funds will help to solve the problem of constant power cuts at, at least one of the hospitals in Gaza. The money you donate will go towards installing solar panels at a hospital in Gaza to help provide constant, free energy!
