After running the Berlin marathon last year for the Macmillan trust i said it would be my first and last marathon.  However, here i am again running the the New York marathon for the children's trust charity in November. Why am i supporting this charity? There are many great charities but the children's trust stood out for me being a local charity that provide a unique combination of care, therapy and education to some of the UK's most severely disabled children.

Some of these children have been born with disabilities and some have suffered a brain injury as a result of a tragic accident or illness, like meningitis. Most cannot walk or talk, and have impaired hearing or vision or both. Many cannot swallow and require feeding by tube. Some cannot breathe independently and depend on artificial ventilation.

Therefore all of you that sponsor me play a very big part in changing the lives of these children and families who are desperately in need of our support.
