Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

A dialysis satellite unit south of Aberdeen City is desperately needed to provide local treatment for patients requiring kidney dialysis. Funds have already been raised for a unit in Stonehaven, but more money is needed to meet the £100,000 shortfall.

Having a dialysis unit closer to home will mean my mum and others like her with kidney failure will have drastically reduced travelling times to and from hospital for their three times a week life saving treatment. To help raise money for the Stonehaven Dialysis Unit I'm going to be doing a sponsored walk. I'm going to be walking Lairig Ghru (www.walkscotland.com/lairigghru.htm) from Aviemore to Braemar, a distance of 28 miles on Saturday 8th October 2011. Mum's husband, David Stewart will be accompanying me on the walk.

UPDATE 25.09.11 - Due to bad weather being forecast (ie snow!) and the fact that Lairig Ghru is very remote and it will get dark very quickly, very early, we have decided to climb Lochnagar instead, which is not quite such a long walk, but involves climbing quite a big mountain, but in not quite such a remote setting, a bit closer to civilisation!

Any money I raise will go the the Grampian NHS Endowment Fund, who will pass every penny onto the Stonehaven Dialysis Unit Fund.
