Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Most of us, sadly know someone that has suffered or currently fighting cancer, whether they are a close family member or friend or an acquaintance you see in your neighbourhood or on the school run and have all number of feelings we have for them, maybe even the odd thought of is there anything I can do to help. Sympathy isn't enough, it doesn't do anything, as a close friend of mine was affected by cancer I had to do something. I try to help personally, but it is so hard to do something constructive or sometimes even say the right thing and I am pretty sure I annoy her a lot when I am trying to be helpful, obviously I don't mean to I just feel like I should do more. But, truth be told I am useless, what the hell do I know? I try to relate but that in reality is impossible, I want to do, actually selfishly I have to do something that is useful.

So when I was running for 'enjoyment' (I say this in the loosest sense of the word as the actually running is NOT enjoyable),  I thought, "I know, I could apply for a marathon place, that would be useful and positive as well as raise money for  a good cause". Macmillan were my only choice, they are a fantastic charity they provide that support to cancer sufferers that I can't give and it was as easy as that.

So, to run for Macmillan you have to write a piece of why you are running it and I may share what I wrote with you in the future. Anyway, the people at Macmillan deemed me worthy enough to have one of their coveted places, so here I am telling you about the start of my journey, if you have read it this far then you are obviously supporting me. Now my next goal is to raise a lot of money to actually give to the charity! So that is where you come in, please, please, please give what you can, remember that 1 in 3 of us will directly be affected by cancer during our lives, whether that is a family member or close friend, it is a disease that tears families apart and devastates all involved. For them to be given the support they need, Macmillan need to keep raising funds to provide that support and care,  hopefully one day cancer will be a word of the past but for now help me to help the charity that can support those in need.
