My story

Thanks for taking the time to visit this JustGiving page in memory of Louise Smith.

Lou died at her home in west London on the evening on Monday, 5 December. It was sudden and completely unexpected and has left her family, former colleagues, friends and admirers shocked and saddened.

There will be a Memorial Service of Thanksgiving, organised by some of Lou's former colleagues and friends, which will take place in Westminster Cathedral at 1600 on Friday, 13 January 2012. We will adjourn to a local venue to renew acquaintances and to remember good times with Lou.

Lou's former colleagues and friends at Postcomm have given much thought as to how to commemorate such a wonderful person. We have decided that we should do somthing at Waterloo Green, which is a small garden near to the Postcomm offices and the Horse pub, where we all enjoyed the good times we had with Lou. Depending on how much is raised this could be a tree, a shrub, hedge, rose bush or even a bench. We hope it will both provide a place where we can remember Lou but also enhance the local area. Before she died Lou was considering working for the Bankside Open Spaces Trust (BOST), of which Joseph Bonner and Martin Stanley are trustees, and we know she supported the aims of this charity. BOST looks after many open spaces in the area, inlcuding Waterloo Green, and will ensure that the money is put to good use in Lou's memory. We will advise when this is done and what we have been able to put in place.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - we raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.

So please dig deep and donate now. Thank you.

Lou, you have left a huge gap and are sorely missed by us all.

Have just heard this very sad news. I knew Lou at HMLR back in the early 1990s. We met again in 2009 by chance and caught up over a glass or two!
