Story

In April 2012 I will be trekking the Inca Trail in Peru in aid of Breast Cancer Care. This is a 10 day challenge that will take me away from my family and all the usual comforts of modern day living that we enjoy in England. And I will be one month shy of 40 so the fitness is not what it used to be!

I am now in the last 3 days of preparation which seems to be about taking it easy. New flight details confirmed after Iberia strikes meant ours was cancelled. Enjoying some time with my family before I leave them for 10 days.

Having lots of fun at Zumba and Booiaka, and going to the gym, walking and swimming (which are not quite as fun!). However attention now turns to horrible things like jabs, the freezing cold when we wake up in the dark in the morning and where to go to the toilet - yikes!

Sadly many of us know a friend or a family member that has been affected by cancer, I myself lost my Grandad and my Mum to this horrible disease. I am so happy though that a close friend has recently beaten cancer and gone on to have her first child. This is why the Trek is so important to me.
