I am at it again, mixing cycling with fundraising.

I am raising money for a very worthy local cause that is close to my heart.

The Bristol Oncology and Haematology centre provides a brilliant service to local people with Cancer, however the centre is in desperate need of a refurbishment to make it more comfortable for the patients and their families. All monies raised will go to directly this fund and not just in the general coffers of a national charity.

Whats the challenge? Cycling over 250 miles in 2.5 days.

   - 110 miles on 24th September The Downs Bristol over the Mendips to Wells, Taunton then over Exmoor to Barnstaple

   - 100 miles on the 25th across Dartmoor and Bodmin Moor to St Austell and

   - 50+ on the 26th to Lands End and lunch!

This will done with up to 69 other people

Whats the cause? Above and Beyond’s CaRE Appeal aims to provide £1.6million to transform facilities for chemotherapy and radiotherapy patients in .

£1.1million has already been raised through past donations to Above and Beyond for the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre (BHOC) however they need everyone’s help to raise the final £500,000 by Autumn 2010. 

BHOC cares for a total of 6,500 patients every year, with up to 1,000 patients and visitors passing through the Centre each day. The CaRE Appeal aims to provide an environment that will reflect the outstanding care and brilliant people who work there.

With your help they can:

- Transform the reception area to create a positive, bright and welcoming area for patients and visitors.

- Refurbish the Outpatients Department and increase the number of clinic rooms and quiet areas.

- Re-locate administrative facilities to create more space for patient support services and provide an information centre

- Develop an arts programme to provide a calming and relaxing environment throughout the building
