I turn 40 this year, which is hard to believe I know!  To mark this milestone I wanted to complete a personal challenge while raising money for The Rosemary Foundation. A charity I have been privileged to work with for two years in July.

I don’t run and I am not keen on heights either so that ruled out marathons, skydiving and abseiling!  A long walk seemed doable whilst getting me out of my comfort zone.  

The distance determined as I had the idea to walk from home to The Rosemary Foundation office.  A journey I do on a regular basis in the car without thought. It is 21 miles going past Denmead, through Hambledon and East Meon. This also linked well as it is The Rosemary Foundations 21st year this year.

Since the beginning of the year I have been increasing my walking distances, recently completing a 12 mile route from Denmead to Emsworth along the Wayfarers’ Walk.  The last day of the annual Maxse Walk which this year was in aid of The Rosemary Foundation.

On May 12th I am signed up to walk 15 miles on a circular route around the South Downs from Goodwood Race Course

*Edit I completed the 15 mile (25km) walk, really enjoyed it and got some good hill walking practice in too.

The Rosemary Foundation is a Charity providing a ‘Hospice at Home’ service in Petersfield and the surrounding towns and villages. It is intended to help patients in the latter stage of life threatening conditions.

This service offers practical help, nursing care, emotional and counselling support, together with day and night sitting service and trained nurses available 24 hours a day. Care continues through the first year of bereavement.

The Rosemary Foundation receives no statutory funding but provides a valuable service at no cost to the patient or their family.

The services of the Rosemary Foundation are free of all charge to patients and carers
