My story

Someone once told me that everyone has a marathon in them and although the thought of doing a 26 mile distance fills me with absolute terror, my reason for doing it has made me determined to give it a go.

I am running in aid of homeless charities. I have spent a number of years volunteering with homeless charities and the work they do is amazing. They help people who feel like they have nowhere to turn to, offering them advice, support, food, a friendly ear and even the chance to show off and develop their hidden talents in music, play writing and photography, building much needed confidence. These are people we pass in the street everyday, people that could easily be us and have been just like us once. They all have a story to tell and such charities give people not only the chance to tell them, but a second chance to improve their lives. For some people, just having company  and a cup of tea for a few hours is enough.

I have felt truely inspired working with people who facilitate this; dedicated volunteers and key workers and the people who attend, each with their own story.

This training and marathon is going to be tough, possibly the hardest thing I've ever done. But, as I drag myself out of a nice warm bed, fuelled by a lovely breakfast in the cold Winter months and moan to myself, I will remember that I am doing this for people who have to sleep in the cold, night after night, grateful for whatever kind of food they can come across.

Please give whatever you can, any amount at all will be very much appreciated and put to good use. Donations can also be made personally via a sponsor sheet. Thank you very much for taking the time to read this.
