Story
In 2010, I was diagnosed with a partial molar pregnancy. This is quite a rare condition, occurring in one in 700-800 pregnancies in the UK. When a molar pregnancy arises, a problem occurs at the time of conception and the underlying cause is not known.
I was lucky enough not to need treatment, but was, and will continue to be monitored by Charing Cross hospital in London. Charing Cross is one of only three hospitals in the UK which diagnoses, treats and follows up women with gestational trophoblastic disease. They provide fantastic support at a very distressing time and also support research.
In November 2011, our first rainbow baby, Sophie, was born, and we feel incredibly lucky to have her.
In August 2013, our second rainbow, Benjamin, arrived and now our family is complete. We feel so, so lucky to be where we are now.
Amazingly, we raised £295 on Sophie's first birthday for The Cancer Treatment & Research Trust (GTT) at Charing Cross. Thank you all so much for your generosity.
Now, as Benjamin's first birthday approaches we would love to raise some more, so that they can continue to help women like me and hopefully one day find a cause and a way to prevent this from occurring.
