RUHX (formerly The Forever Friends Appeal) is the official NHS charity of the Royal United Hospitals Bath. We’re here to make our place healthier, happier and stronger for the future. And we do that by supporting the extra extraordinary work that leads to exceptional care for everyone.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page. As some of you may know Lou and Sal are both doing a Sprint Triathlon next Bank Holiday Monday, 27th May at Westonbirt Arboretum. This involves each doing a 400m swim, 14 mile cycle and 3 mile run - eek!! We're aiming to complete these in between 1 hour 45 minutes and 2 hours. Neither of us have done any substantiable amount of exercise since having kids (about 7 years) nevermind sign up for this so we can safely say it has been a bit of a challenge (not least to simply find the time) to train! So the last few months of getting out in the often dreadful British weather is coming to fruition and we hope we can raise a bit of cash for charity in the process.

We have decided to raise money for  Bath's Royal United Hospital's Cancer Care Campaign  - this latest Forever Friends appeal is aiming to raise £8.5 million to build a pioneering cancer centre which will use cutting edge technology to treat and support patients diagnosed with cancer as well as support their familes through this often incredibly difficult time. We're sure that many of you will at least have known someone who has suffered with cancer, we unfortunately do -  so helping to raise money for this makes it worthwhile.

Along the training 'journey' we have encountered mishaps such as an ankle sprain, painful flies in eyes, falling off the bike into nettles and so on (not to mention a variety of clothing and hairstyle issues - you try swimming/helmet/running hair, not a pretty sight...!)so we think it will all be worth it if you are able to donate even a couple of pounds. We really wont be offended if you prefer not to or can't, but it's an opportunity for those of you who can, to do so. So big BIG thank yous to those who can, and as the old cliche goes, every little helps! Please see below for donating details. Love Sal and Lou xx

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. So please, if you are able, throw us a few pounds to make this worth the effort, thank you!
