Thank you for supporting me on this exhilarating challenge. I love the British countryside of which our waterways are integral, our wildlife depend on them and they are enjoyed by us for a variety of leisure activities. So when I read the bulletin for folks to take part in the Canal & River Trust initial fundraising event, I thought it sounded an exciting way to raise money and an opportunity to get out my old mountain bike and hat. But oh no……things have moved on since I last went out on a push bike. It’s not just a case of being enthusiastic and a little mad to participate; a slick new road bike and an in-date safety helmet - along with reasonable fitness levels have to be a priority!

So, with two of the above three in place. I’ve been out almost daily, (trying to achieve the third,) enjoying the British Countryside through wind, rain, gales and hail. Not quite sure which will be worse, managing the 91 miles on the first day or the prospect of cycling in sunshine?
