I MADE IT!!!
On 1st March 2012 at 06:45 I reached Uhuru Peak 5895m, the summit of Kilimanjaro.
It was tough but I was part of a great team that worked together not only to reach the summit but to raise over £100,000 for Alzheimer's Soceity.
Hello I'm Louise, I woke up one morning and decided that I needed to do something for charity so I thought I'd start off small and climb the highest freestanding mountain in the world, and the highest mountain on the African continent at 5,896m - Kilimanjaro!!!
I will be raising money for a fantastic cause - Alzheimer's Society.
The Trek will take place on 23rd February 2012 which will take me away from home for 10 days, 7 of these days will be trekking and I know I will miss my husband Ian, my bassets Baxter and Lillie so much.
I'm a 5* Hotel type of girl so don't no how I will cope with living in tent with no shower or hairdryer.
I am fully committed to being successful even if that means sharing my tent with mice and spiders.
I have never done any type of walking before so I am in training at the moment walking over the Yorkshire Countryside and attending a boot camp 3 times a week.
I recently met most of the team that will be with me on the trek which was great. We were also talked through the trek by a Discover Adventure Guide whilst it was very imformative, it also scared me to death!
I have put a picture of my grandad on my page because I know if he was still with us he would be so proud of me.
The target I need to raise is £4200 but I am hoping I can raise more for such a fantastic cause.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated.
