We stand for everyone affected by dementia to find a cure

Story

For the second year running, I will be taking in the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge. This year the event takes place on Saturday 15 June. Our team will endure a tough 25 mile hike across Pen-Y-Ghent, Whernside and Ingleborough, the three largest peaks in the Yorkshire Dales. It’s a tough challenge which involves lots of training to get round in one piece!

This year we’re raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK. There are currently 820,000 people living with Dementia in the UK. By 2040 this figure will grow to 1,500,000. There is currently no cure and little funding. The money raised from this event will go towards funding two vital research scholarships in the quest to find a cure and help bring hope to thousands of families across the UK who are profoundly affected by dementia.

Each participant must raise a minimum of £300. At least 80% of this money will benefit Alzheimer’s Research UK, the balance being spent on the costs of the participant’s challenge. 100% of any sum raised over £300 will benefit Alzheimer’s Research UK.
