Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
As some of you know I am now back home and can happily say that I completed the Trek!!!
It was pretty tough in ways that I couldn't really imagine or had really given much thought over..........the lack of oxygen and thiness of the air being one of them! I suffered quite badly the night before our first day trekking, I was sick, had ear ache (apparently due to a filling i'd had the week before i went....no one told me you weren't supposed to have dental work before going to altitude) and a pulsating headache.....those of you who suffer from migraines will appreciate the pain I went through.
However, as the days went by I stopped feeling sick and just had to deal with the constant head and ear aches and luckily for me my friend Luisa had brought I huge supply of Ibuprofen which soon became my best friend.
The walking from 6am til 5pm was hardgoing, the last summit to 4600 meters (the photo above) is without a doubt the hardest thing i've ever done, the last 100 meters was such a struggle but thinking about Elena, the money people had pledged and all the messages I received before I left for Peru kept me going.
As I'm sure many of you know, donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
Please give what you can to Sparkles, however small, as it all makes a difference to these children's lives.
Thank you all so much
Lucia
