Story
Thanks so much for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am running the Great North Run on 19 Sept to raise money in memory of my mother who died earlier this year. She had Myasthenia Gravis (MG) for over 12 years so all the money I raise will go to the MG Association to support other sufferers & to fund research into alternative ways to treat the illness.
MG is a rare illness & one you may not have heard of. In layman's terms, it is a disease that affects how your nerves and muscles communicate so your muscles become less effective. So eating, breathing, using your limbs even smiling can be difficult - it can also be fatal. The disease can be managed but, as yet, there is no cure.
My mother coped with the illness admirably. She rarely let it get her down & even though she was in a wheelchair for the last few years of her life - she still lived life to the full. Only a few months before she died, we were all holidaying in the Isle of Wight and she did the Daily Telegraph crossword (pretty quickly too I might add) right up until a couple of days before she died.
Rest assured - donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Your details are safe with JustGiving – they’ll never sell them on or send unwanted emails. Once you donate, they’ll send your money directly to the charity and make sure Gift Aid is reclaimed on every eligible donation by a UK taxpayer. So it’s the most efficient way to donate - I raise more, whilst saving time and cutting costs for the charity.
So please dig deep and donate now - as much or as little as you like & can afford. Every penny helps.
Thank you so much for your generosity - I, and the MG Association, really, really appreciate it.
Thanks
Lucinda
