Due to an injury last April I was unable to take part in the 2010 London Marathon. I am now running fit and all ready for the start of this years London Marathon and strangely looking forward to it!!! the winter training has be tough but not as painful as last year! please read my story and give as much as you can x
On the 9th February 1987 the most important person in my life died of Ovarian Cancer.
I was 16 when my mum, Sheila died, she was only 41 and left behind four children, Victoria 14, Zoë 11 and Tom who was just 5 years old and our loving supporting dad who we would never of got through those early years without.
Although it is over 23 years since she died it sometimes feels like yesterday.
Mum would have been very proud of the family she would have had, as between us we have given her 5 fantastic grandchildren. Family was extremely important to her, and it has stayed with all of us through our lives.
I am running the Virgin London Marathon in aid of Ovarian Cancer Action in memory of our mummy who was taken from us by such a silent and deadly disease.
Had there been more awareness twenty years ago she may have stood a fighting chance but as it was she was diagnosed in August 1986 and died in February 1987.
Ovarian Cancer Action works in three areas: funding research, raising awareness and giving a voice to every one affected by Ovarian Cancer.
