Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
Many of you know that my father had a stroke last July and life has changed dramatically for him since then. He had excellent care after the stroke. Strokes can affect anyone - at any age and from any background. Every 5 minutes, in England & Wales someone has a stroke. Stroke is the major cause of disability.
I want to do something for an organisation that helps so many people. I have (madly - and I am still not sure why I said yes to this!) decided to climb the three peaks in 'nearly' 24 hours. This challenge starts on Saturday 29th May which is my birthday so I will expect the rest of the team to sing to me on the top of Ben Nevis!
WE DID IT! The team completed the challenge in 25 hours. We started with Ben Nevis at 3.30pm on Saturday 29th May and what a long climb that was! It took us 3 hours to climb to the top and even at the end of May there was thick snow on the top - have a look at the photos. We drove through the night and then started Scafell Pike at 3.35am in the dark. That climb took 4 hours. We then drove 200 miles to Wales and completed the challenge by climbing a very busy Snowdon on Bank Holiday Sunday which we finished at 4.30pm. The sense of achievement is fantastic - the only downside of the challenge is that I am losing a toenail! .
Our last fundraising event is a garden party on Saturday 19th June which we hope will be as successful as the cookery demonstrations and the quiz night.
