Brathay Trust - Brathay Windermere Marathon 2012 · 20 May 2012 ·

Inspiring over 7000 young people from across the UK to build their brighter futures.

Story

Last run today...a little 4 miler. Leg is pretty sore now so booked in for a massage and physio 2moro. Sure they'll work their magic to get me to the start line!

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

I have been training for the Brathay Windermere Marathon for what seems like forever, but actually has only been since just before Christmas. However, for the last couple of months I have been suffering with a calf injury. Last week I made the decision that I WOULD run...YAY!!!

This is only thanks to the awesome Body Rehab (www.thebodyrehab.co.uk) and the support of family, friends and Brathay colleagues. Not to mention the inspiring 10in10 runners (www.brathaywindermeremarathon.org.uk), who are running 10 Windermere Marathons in 10 days and have raised over £100k for Brathay.

So here I am also raising money for Brathay (www.brathay.org.uk). My job at Brathay as a Research Assistant allows me to see (and show to others) the impact of Brathay's work to support young people to become empowered in their lives.

One example of our work is with young people who find themselves in the care (or "looked after") system. These young people are more likely to be disempowered, disengaged from school, involved in sexual exploitation, reliant on drugs and alcohol, and become involved in youth offending. Brathay is working on several different projects that support young people in care to have more control in their lives and see that they have choice and are capable of achieving.

Any donation you make, no matter how much, will help support our work with young people.
