Mencap wants a world where people with a learning disability gain an equal right to choice opportunity and respect. We believe that support for the families and carers of people with a learning disability is vital to achieving our vision

Story

On 9th June 2018, I will be taking on the challenge
of completing the 25-miles Yorkshire Three Peaks trek, in order to raise money
for Mencap.

I *love* walking and running the Yorkshire 3 Peaks and this is probably about the 11th or 12th time that I’ve have taken on the challenge.  I was
hoping to try and better my fastest time of 5 hours 44 minutes, but having dislocated and fractured my shoulder on Good Friday I’m not sure I’ll be close to this time, but am looking forward to completing the challenge for such a good cause – albeit I might still be running in a sling!  It makes me more determined to be able to meet my fundraising target and to complete the challenge!

Every week, 200 babies are born with a learning disability. This reduced intellectual ability will give them difficulty to perform everyday activities and will affect them for their whole life. Every penny  raised will help Mencap develop its 'EmployMe' programme, supporting people with a learning disability find and hold successfulemployment
