The London Bridge walk · 26 June 2014

Someone is diagnosed with blood cancer in the UK every 20 minutes, and many will need a blood stem cell transplant for a second chance at life. We are committed to increasing the number of potential blood stem cell donors in the UK, so that there is a donor for everyone who needs one.

Story

I met Vicki and Yaser through school: both our older and younger boys are in the same classes.  2 years ago, they had Margot: quite frankly one of the sweetest, loveliest little girls I've ever met.  Margot has completed the Martini family.  The news that last year Margot had leukaemia was devastating.  Vicki and Yaser have dealt with this news in a way many people can only sit back and admire.  Their energy and drive has seen over 50,000 people register on the stem cell list of donations.  They have shared their story and touched thousands and responded to this news in a way which is constructive and inspirational.  This bridge walk is my way of helping to raise money to support the charities working with the Martini family - namely Great Ormond Street and Delete Blood Cancer.
